So Long Mario
So long Mario...
you are the greatest, and we'll miss you!
"My goal was to win the Stanley Cup, and I don't worry too much about what people thought about my career. Some guys play 10 or 15 years in the league and never get the chance to play in the final." -Super Mario.... 40,000 people showed up at Greater Pittsburgh International Airport to welcome the Pens back with their first Stanley Cup from Minnesota. Two days later to a crowd nearly twice the size at Point State Park in Pittsburgh, Mario said "We love you guys, and this Cup is for you." After facing adversity in the early rounds of the playoffs and following it with a sweep of the Blackhawks, the Pens brought home the Cup for their second consecutive year. "We never quit. We showed a lot of character." -Super Mario. Lemieux never quit. Not after horrendous back problems, a broken hand, cancer, or anemia. He was a true competitor and a class act all the way. Mario will be sorely missed by the sport of hockey.
